'Repo Man' and the Passing of American Car Culture

A benefit screening of the popular cult classic Repo Man at the Parkway Theater in Oakland.

Follow a dispossessed repossession agent through mid-80s Los Angeles as he encounters aliens, CIA agents, televangelists, and car chases. "The life of a Repo Man is always intense. But only a fool gets killed for a car."

We will mark the occasion with a celebration of the passing of American car culture and the birth of something new -- an invitation to join the growing movement for a livable, local, resilient Bay Area. We will also feature "The Real Deal: A Retro/Spective on the Automobile," a showcase of creative collages by local artivist Laura Garzon.

WHEN: Thursday, July 24 at 9:15 pm [Doors open at 8:30]

WHERE: Parkway Theater, 1834 Park Blvd. @ East 19th, Oakland
Tickets are $9.00 at the door, with $2.00 benefiting Bay Localize. This event is wheelchair accessible.
