Bay Area 2020: Clear Vision for the Future

Our region has no common strategy for adapting to climate change and peak oil. We have no plan to ensure that the most vulnerable members of society are protected through these crises, and no way of making sure all voices are heard as the planning process develops.

Bay Area 2020 offers a clear-eyed view of the key challenges we face as a region and an action plan to address them. In response to rising energy costs and the effects of climate change, we develop tools, engage changemakers, and implement policies to build a more resilient Bay Area.

"Growing Resilience" Attracted Over 100

On September 16, 2009, over 100 local advocates and concerned residents came together for "Growing Resilience," Bay Localize's launch party for the Community Resilience Toolkit! Participants heard dynamic speakers, saw live performances, took part in interactive Toolkit sessions, and enjoyed ice cream, organic produce, and other delicious local offerings. See video at left for event highlights!

Workshops and Forums to Build Community Resilience
Leadership Forum Food Breakout
Bay Localize is currently piloting the Toolkit with select community groups. We plan expand these activities in 2009 and 2010 with Toolkit trainings and other workshops for localization activists. Contact us if your community is interested in working with Bay Localize to implement the Community Resilience Toolkit.

Come to our localization Forums and Caucuses. We're hosting educational forums on localization topics -- often in tandem with established conferences or other events -- in order to deepen our understanding of the issues we're facing and broaden the dialogue about what resilience should look like. In addition, we will be hosting caucuses on similar topics, with the goal of establishing common and specific goals for localization in our region.

Bay Area 2020 depends on your participation. It's about building the kind of Bay Area we all want to see. Get Involved!

Many thanks to the San Francisco Foundation, the Wallace Global Fund, and our donors for their generous support.
